So, you’re thinking about getting married in Yamba? Great call - I like you already!

Yamba and the surrounding area has some of the most amazing wedding venues. Be it a formal sit down event or an acreage property with food trucks, there’s something for everyone. This short and snappy guide will give you a run down of the best Yamba wedding venues. Let’s roll.

Best Yamba Ceremony Locations

Yamba Wedding - Ceremony Locations

Yamba Lighthouse

Probably the most iconic spot for a Yamba wedding is at the Lighthouse.

Situated on Pilot Hill overlooking Main Beach is the Yamba Lighthouse lawn.  It's a beautiful spot for a beachy, outdoor ceremony.  Keep in mind there is no shade at this location, so it's best for morning or late afternoon ceremonies (depending on the time of year). Pro tip: You can google your wedding date sunset time to help with planning.

Council approval is required, and this space is listed as 'Pilot Hill' on the Clarence Valley Council Bookings website.

Main Beach Yamba

Another popular spot for a Yamba wedding is Main Beach.  Situated just next to the ocean bath is a flat grassed area that provides amazing ocean views.

There is some shade provided and if you are having a late ceremony (3pm onwards) the sun will likely be hidden, making it a little cooler in the Summer months.

This is a great spot if you're having your reception at the Surf Club as it's an easy walk from this location.

Council approval is required via the Clarence Valley Council website.

Yamba Main Beach Wedding

Turners Beach Yamba

There’s a few steps down to the rocks at Turners, which at low tide makes for a beautiful ceremony location. It’s a smallish area and would suit up to about 30-40 guests. There’s no shade so best for an early morning or late afternoon ceremony. I recently photographed Brooke & Breagan’s wedding there, which you can check out here.

Yamba Golf Club

Yamba Golf Club is a great choice for a beautiful and practical wedding. It’s located in the centre of town which is convenient for guests getting to and from the venue, plus they operate a courtesy bus! You can choose to have just your reception at the Golf Club, or have your ceremony there too. The arbour on the golf course is situated under stunning natural paperbark trees. Check out their website for more info.

Green Point, Angourie

Green Point at Angourie is an epic ceremony location.  The sandstone area where you tie the knot is right on the point, with views of the coast line, back to Yamba and out to sea. Depending on the time of year, you might even have some dolphins or whales drop in on your ceremony.

It's big enough for larger weddings in terms of space and parking, but it is open to the elements and you'll feel it if it's a really windy day.

It’s a popular ceremony location, so jump on the Clarence Valley Council website and check availability.

Here’s a recent wedding I photographed there too.

St Mary's Church, Maclean

OK so it's not technically Yamba but I had to include this one as it's where I was married!  It's a beautiful old church, built in the 1890's and sits at the top of the hill in Maclean.

It's only about a 15-20 minute drive from Yamba to Maclean, so you can easily have your ceremony here and a reception back in Yamba (which is what we did).

Contact the parish directly for bookings.

Yamba Wedding - Reception Venues

Karrakin

Karrakin is in the main street of Yamba and has a beautiful backyard with fairy lights, perfect for an intimate wedding. With a seasonal menu and produce from the local area, the food at Karrakin will not disappoint. I haven’t photographed a wedding there yet but have stalked them enough on Instagram to know how awesome it is. They also do catering - so if you have your wedding elsewhere and need catering, hit them up.

Yamba Surf Club

Sitting right on Main Beach with views of the Pacific Ocean and the Headland, this is one of the most iconic locations in Yamba. It's a DIY venue, meaning you will need to organise the bar, catering and venue decoration, but there are plenty of amazing vendors that can help with this. Ivy Lane & Co is a good place to start for this.

The Yamba Surf Club is a great location if you're having your ceremony at Main Beach or the Lighthouse. Contact them here.

The River Shack

The River Shack is an all in one venue for the nature lovers. Set on both acreage and the waterfront, this private property ticks so many boxes. It has a house for you to stay in, guests can camp on site and it even has its own jetty.

But it's a popular Yamba wedding location (3 of my 7 Yamba weddings this year are at River Shack) so make contact early to check availability. Contact them here.

Riverside Ranch

Riverside Ranch is a stunning 50 acre property on the Oyster Channel in Yamba. It has multiple ceremony and reception areas, allowing you to pick and choose to make your Yamba wedding perfect. They also have accomodation options which make it a great all in one venue. Contact them here

That's it!

So that's it! The best Yamba wedding venues that I would recommend. Your first step is to contact the venues that you like and organise to check availability and organise a visit. Meet the team behind the venue to make sure you get along well and have your questions answered. And of course, if you are looking for a photographer, I would love to chat and learn more about your day. I offer free engagement shoots for couples getting married in Yamba.
